As a part of the Summit, participants will meet in facilitated working groups, and develop plans to address specific challenges faced in District 39. We are trying to gauge interest for what breakout groups we should host, so not all of the options below will be available on March 22nd. Please use these drop-down menus to rank your first, second, and third choice working groups (out of four options). We will do our best to place participants in their preferred working groups.
Working Groups:
House of Worship Know Your Rights Training - Led by ICNY's Chief Counsel, this training provides houses of worship with everything they need to know in order to exert your rights under the first, fourth, and fifth amendments to their fullest capacity. If your congregation wants to protect its congregants, social service guests, and broader community, this training will give you the tools to do so. (We recommend faith leaders attend this session).
Know Your Rights in Bangla - This session will prepare community members with basic Know Your Rights information (e.g. interactions with ICE, administrative vs. judicial warrants). This session will be in the Bangla language.
Rapid Response Training - Want to get a sense of how you can participate in keeping your community safe? This abridged Rapid Response session will teach you about presence in your community and practices you can take to keep you and your neighbors safe -- including documenting, identifying, and S.A.L.U.T.E. information.
Hand-in-Hand Domestic Employers Training - Perfect for domestic employees and employers, this training provides grounding in how to build a 'sanctuary home' to support immigrant domestic employees. The training will be run by Hand in Hand: The Domestic Employers Network.
The D39 Interfaith Immigration Summit will be held on March 22nd, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, at Flatbush Jewish Center, 327 E 5th St Brooklyn, NY 11218. See you there!
Please arrive promptly, as the conference will begin at 1:30 PM Sharp
